The Creative Process

The idea

This is the most vague step, it begins with something coming to mind, an idea pops up, an image or something I see triggers the first idea I will build around.

Image research

Once I have an idea or image in mind, I begin researching images on stock pictures sites, compiling an undefined amount of image I can work with relating to the idea. I will research a visual appeal or style in the images, something I can mold, modify and style. Full disclosure, I purchase my images or use copyright free images crediting the artists. And if not, pictures I have casually taken will be used once I snap a view I find appealing.

Tools selection

Considering I create a digital medium, I will work with GIMP, Vaporgram Pro, Glitch Lab or even Microsoft Paint. For complex multilayered project I generally will go with GIMP. For retro or vaporwave aesthetics I will refer to Vaporgram Pro. Any Glitchart projects, Glitch Lab will be used. But in the end, some pieces have combined 2 or three of the tools to elaborate and create more complex ideas.

Image editing

This is where the bulk of the work is from assembling a idea, to exploring effects, filters and colors, working with layers, editing, cutting, distorting and so on. Up until the piece is formed and ready to put out.
